How the scoring works
Honest scoring is the entire value.
Each question scores 0 for no, 1 for partly, and 2 only if you could show an auditor. A “not sure” counts as a gap until it can be evidenced. The total points to where you should start.
The assessment also works out how much autonomy your foundations can hold today, from your Architecture, Design and Governance answers, and tells you if your ambition is ahead of them.

Horizon 1: mobilise and comply
Name the owners, stand up the committee, open the register, adopt the framework.
14 to 27 points
Horizon 2: operationalise and assure
Embed the lifecycle and gates, harden the foundation, publish transparency, build capability.
28 to 40 points
Horizon 3: scale with confidence
Cross the supervision threshold deliberately, add simulation, extend policy as code.

Are my answers stored anywhere?
No. The assessment runs entirely in your browser. Your answers are kept in this browser so you can come back to them, and in the share link if you choose to copy one. Nothing is sent to Renly.
What do I get at the end?
Your maturity across the five domains, the roadmap horizon to start from, your obligations and dates counted down, your first priorities, and a tailored AI governance strategy and roadmap you can download as an editable Word document or save as a PDF.
Is it only for Commonwealth agencies?
It is written to the Commonwealth mandate, which binds non-corporate Commonwealth entities. State, territory and local government agencies, and suppliers to government, can use it too: the obligations are then shown as good practice.
How current are the obligations and dates?
They were checked against official sources on 7 October 2026, including the DTA’s Policy for the responsible use of AI in government (v2.0). Obligations can change; confirm them against the source instruments. The assessment is not legal advice.
