Renly Browser Extension privacy

What the extension is
The Renly Browser Extension lets a signed-in Renly user's AI agent carry out tasks in the user's own browser, with the user supervising and approving actions. It works only for people who use Renly, and only when you ask it to do something. It never acts on its own.
What it accesses, and why
- The page you direct it to. When you ask your agent to work on a page, the extension reads that page (its interactive elements and, when needed, its text) and performs the actions you requested, such as clicking a button or filling a field.
- Your open tabs. It can list your tabs so you can point the agent at the right one, and focus the tab it is working on.
- Your Renly sign-in. On your open renly.ai tab, it reads your Renly session token so it can connect to your own account. It does not read anything else from that tab.
It does this only for the specific task you start, and only on the tab you direct it to. It does not run in the background on sites you have not asked it to work on.
What it sends, and where
To carry out your request, the extension exchanges data only with your own authenticated Renly backend at renly.ai. That includes the snapshot or text of the page you directed it to, and the result of each action, so your agent can decide the next step. It sends nothing to any third party.
What it stores on your device
- Session storage: your Renly connection details, cleared when the browser session ends.
- Local storage: your own settings, such as which sites you have chosen to trust and your supervision preference. This stays on your device.
Uninstalling the extension removes this local data.
What it does not do
- It does not collect or send your browsing history.
- It does not sell or transfer your data to third parties.
- It does not use your data for advertising or creditworthiness.
- It does not load remote code. All of its code ships inside the extension package.
- It refuses to act on restricted site categories such as banking and payments.
Limited Use: the extension's use of information received from its permissions adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide the user-initiated features described here, is not sold or transferred except to operate the user's own Renly service, and is not used for advertising.
Your controls
- Approve or decline each sensitive action in the page, and Stop the agent at any time.
- Choose which sites the agent may act on.
- Sign out of Renly, or uninstall the extension, to end its access.
