Delete your Renly account

How to permanently delete your Renly account and the data associated with it, either from inside the app or by contacting us.

Delete your account from the app

This is the fastest route and takes effect immediately.

Sign in to Renly on the web, desktop or Android app.
Open your Profile from the account menu.
Scroll to Delete account.
Type DELETE MY ACCOUNT to confirm.

Your account and its associated data are erased at that point. The action cannot be undone.

Request deletion without using the app

If you cannot sign in, no longer have the app installed, or would simply rather ask us directly, email privacy@renly.ai from the address on your Renly account with the subject line Delete my account.

We will verify that the request comes from the account holder, action it within 30 days, and confirm by email once it is done. There is no charge for this.

Requesting deletion by email has the same effect as deleting from inside the app. We ask for it to come from the account email address so that nobody can delete an account that is not theirs.

What gets deleted

Deleting your account removes:

Your profile: name, email address, avatar and sign-in identifiers.
Your chats and their full message history, including files you uploaded and the text extracted from them.
Your working folder contents, artefacts, tasks, reminders and notes held in Renly.
Your saved connector credentials, so Renly immediately loses access to any system you had connected.
Your push notification registrations on every device.

Deleting your Renly account does not delete anything in the third-party systems you connected. Files an agent wrote to SharePoint, work items it created in Azure DevOps, and similar records stay where they are and remain under your organisation's control.

What we keep, and for how long

A small amount of data outlives the account because we are required to keep it:

Financial records such as invoices and payment history, kept for seven years to meet Australian tax and corporations law.
Security and audit records showing that actions occurred, retained in a de-identified form so that an organisation's audit trail is not silently rewritten when an individual leaves.

Neither category is used to contact you or to rebuild your profile.

If you are the sole owner of an organisation

An organisation cannot be left without an owner, so if you are the only owner of a Renly organisation you must first transfer ownership to another member, or delete the organisation itself. Renly will tell you if this applies when you attempt deletion.

If you are the last person in the organisation and want everything removed, say so in your email to privacy@renly.ai and we will delete the organisation and your account together.

Export your data first

Deletion is permanent, so if you want a copy of your data, request an export before you delete. You can do this from Profile in the app, or by emailing privacy@renly.ai.
